Mrs. Dunne Lobbying in Albany
(Fri March 2, 2007) As part of the district’s ongoing efforts to lobby for education funding and by invitation of the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA), Yonkers Board of Education President Bernadette Dunne will travel to Albany on March 4 to attend the 2007 State Legislative Network Issues Conference presented by the NYSSBA. Entitled Leader to Leader: A Partnership for Change, the conference unites school representatives with state officials to discuss the resources and reform needed to improve public education.

During the conference, Board President Dunne and Superintendent of Schools Bernard P. Pierorazio will meet with Assemblyman Michael Spano to discuss the State’s role in providing Yonkers with additional funding necessary to ensure the district’s continued success. In addition, conference participants will hear from educational experts, policymakers, key state legislative leaders and members of the Board of Regents. Mrs. Dunne also represents NYSSBA as the Legislative Liaison for District 10 which represents Putnam, Rockland and Westchester school districts.

The goal of the NYSSBA is to influence policy development in favor of public education. Through the State Legislative Conference, the Association works with school board members as active partners in this process.
