Peter X. Kelly, the Yonkers native and reigning Iron Chef with the golden heart, celebrated the grand opening of his newest restaurant by raising $27,625 for the Saunders High School Culinary Program. X2O Xaviars On The Hudson opened its doors on the Yonkers Pier early this summer to an eager and generous crowd of patrons whose enjoyment helped provide such a tremendous gift to our students.

SHS principal Steve Mazzola, Chef Okumodi Thompson & Culinary Arts students joined the Superintendent and Trustees at the September 26th Board of Education meeting to thank Mr. Kelly for his generosity. Superintendent Bernard P. Pierorazio presented Mr. Kelly with a beautiful memento for his contributions to children and education in Yonkers.

The award winning Saunders High School Culinary Program provides students with comprehensive skills and real-life training that prepares them for acceptance to the nation’s most prestigious colleges and culinary institutes.
