Saunders HVAC Students Do "Oil" Right
 |
The New York Oil Heating Service Managers Association provided the equipment and supplies and hosted the lunch for the competitors, judges and guests. NYOSHMA is a generous business partner that also sponsors scholarships for further study to students in the HVAC program.
Thanks to them and the Westchester Service Managers Association for coordinating this event.

In a test
of skill and finesse, the team of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning students from Saunders Trades and Technical High School out dueled competitors from two other schools in the NY Oil Heating Service Managers Annual Competition held earlier this week. The competition demonstrates prowess in boiler installation, burners, water feed lines and the ultimate wild card of a challenge, troubleshooting.
The day began with a tune-up of brain power in the form of a written exam, then quickly moved on to a hands on duel amongst the 45 students from Saunders, William E. Grady High School and Alfred E. Smith High School, both New York City schools.
Saunders High School defeated the reigning champions from Albert E. Smith High School. A special congratulations to our 1st Place Winners - David Carter, Eric Quintanilla, Kai Adams, Keven Kosar, Brailey Hernandez, Bryhan Hernandez, James Flood and Michael Saunders; our 2nd Place winners – Fatima Perez, Jeffrey Ortiz and Emanuel Dejesus; our 3rd Place winners – John Kleinelp, Mustin Marrero; and Honorable Mention - George Thompson.
