Contract for Excellence

The 2007-2008 New York State budget provides the Yonkers Public Schools with $7,600,000 in funding to implement a Contract for Excellence. The Contract for Excellence is an agreement between the District and the State of New York that specifies a series of targeted initiatives proposed by the District and endorsed by the State which are designed to improve student achievement.

The plan endorsed by the NY State Education Department integrates into the District's comprehensive

Middle and High School Restructuring
Time on Task
Teacher and Principal Quality Initiative
Program to Recruit/Retain Highly Qualified Teachers
Experimental Programs
