Some Sites Require a Password
In some cases, a Yonkers Public Library card number will serve as the password. For other sites, students, faculty and school staff can obtain passwords from the school Library Media Specialist. All others seeking entrance to a site must contact the Department of Library Services.

Electronic Databases:
- EBSCO Publishing provides the complex information needs of libraries and offers solutions to those needs with a collections of specially designed, comprehensive full text databases, available online for each type of library setting.
Many of the EBSCO databases are provided through NOVEL and are a project of the New York State Library that provides the people of New York State with free access to full-text online commercial databases through their libraries. It is funded through a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
- ERIC the Educational Resource Information Center contains more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals.
- Professional Development Collection Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of over 500 full text journals, including more than 300 peer-reviewed titles.
- Health Source: Consumer Edition This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition features searchable full text for nearly 300 journals. This database is updated on a daily basis.
- MAS Ultra - School Edition Designed specifically for high school libraries, this database provides full text for over 500 popular general interest and current events publications with information dating back as far as 1975 for key magazines. MAS Ultra – School Edition also provides nearly 550 full text pamphlets, 253 full text reference books, nearly 100,000 biographies, 76,000 primary source documents, and an image collection of 116,000 photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCO host .
- MasterFILE Select Designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for more than 750 general reference publications with coverage dating as far back as 1984. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Select also includes 37 full text reference books and an Image Collection of 116,000 photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCO host.
- Primary Search provides full text for more than 60 popular, magazines for elementary school research. All full text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles), and full text information dates as far back as 1990.
- Professional Development Collection Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of over 500 full text journals, including more than 300 peer-reviewed titles. Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world.
- TOPICsearch This current events database allows researchers to explore social, political & economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics discussed in today's classrooms. TOPICsearch contains full text for over 64,000 articles from more than 3,000 diverse sources, including more than 1,500 full text periodicals.
- GALE GROUP : Provided through NOVEL and are a project of the New York State Library that provides the people of New York State with free access to full-text online commercial databases through their libraries. - Business and Company Resource Center is a fully integrated resource bringing together company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies and periodicals. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information.

- Essays

Enyclopedias
- World Book Online offers more than 25,000 encyclopedia articles that are carefully edited to suit the educational level of the users most likely to use them, from grades 4 through 12 and adults. World Book's 1,800 tables cover a huge range from facts about countries and other places, to important dates.
- EBSCO Animals Provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.

New York State Newspapers (GALE)
Search this database of ten major newspapers published in the state of New York, including the New York Times and the New York Post.
