Professional Development

Professional Development provides substantive, standards-based staff development to district personnel. Implementing in-depth staff development, focused on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are essential for professional staff, support staff, parents and community members, is an integral part of the District’s Professional Development Plan (PDP). The goal is to have highly skilled teachers, administrators and other school personnel help all students perform at high levels. Changing the way instruction is delivered and the way schools are managed will improve the way children learn.

The District’s professional development initiatives are focused on research-based instructional practices and proven successful programs. High quality, continuous professional development concentrates on building skills and knowledge, reaching high standards, and using assessment results to guide instruction.

Professional Development provides:

• Support for the District’s Professional Development Plan
• Tenured and non-tenured staff instruction to fulfill state and local mandated training requirements
• A Leadership Academy for administrators
• Resources and information on current educational topics
• Mentoring for non-tenured staff
