Early College High School

The Early College High School provides aca¬demic rigor and the prospect for students to save time in attaining a college Associate’s Degree. In partnership with Westchester Community College, Mercy College, and Pace University, the ECHS blends high school and college courses so that students can compress the time it takes to complete a high school diploma and the first two years of college. Serving both developmental and intellectual needs, the ECHS prepares students to become cooperative team members, responsible citizens, effective communicators, proficient problem solvers, and independent thinkers and workers.

The Early College is aligned with the Early College High School’s philosophy

  • Students are prepared for the academic rigors of postsecondary education
  • Juniors and seniors follow a college course schedule – semester, intersession and summer courses – with the potential for students to earn an Associate’s Degree
  • Technology is infused into every aspect of teaching and learning
  • College-life environment is provided at the high school - College Center and advisor, Student Union and Student Government
  • Teacher/Student Advisory Program provides ongoing academic and developmental supports
  • ASSIST - Academic Student Support and Interven¬tion System Team uses the Response to Intervention Model
  • Community Service program inspires volunteerism
  • Extended learning day embraces in-depth study, research-based projects and on-line courses

  • Commitment to college-rigor courses
  • Participation in a Freshman orientation program, student led conferences and teacher/student advisory meetings
  • Develop portfolios and research-based project used as course exit exhibitions
  • Use technology for coursework and the Naviance college preparatory system
  • Participation in PSAT, SAT, ACT readiness and prepa¬ration programs
