Smaller Learning Communities
Sixth Grade Program
- A personalized learning environment to assist students with the transition to middle school learning and life
- Teams of 60 students each led by two core area teachers and a Literacy Specialist
- Interdisciplinary instruction integrates theme experiences within the sixth grade curriculum
Business/Finance Academy
- Infuses business and financial concepts in all areas of the curriculum
- Specialized training through business-related technology, research, field trips, mentoring programs, simulated businesses, entrepreneurial projects, and job shadowing
- Student created school-based business - a true-to-life school store
- Active participation in Junior Achievement’s Project Business, the Champions of Active Learning Grant Program and Lincoln High School’s Business and Finance Academy
Medical/Health and Community Service Learning Academy
- Enriched science and health curricula in the human body, nutrition, immunology, pharmacology, and wellness
- Hands-on learning experiences in medical applications, simulations, demonstrations, and research
- Students receive American Red Cross certifications and job shadow at such institutes as St. John’s Hospital and Cochran School of Nursing
- Service Learning Programs provide students the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences at nursing homes and day care centers in the Yonkers Community
