Foxfire School Design
- Foxfire philosophy embodies eleven core practices, such as teacher as facilitator, student choice, spiraling curriculum, peer teaching, ongoing assessment, and reflection
- Students and teachers use the environment and resources around the school, the City of Yonkers and Westchester County to aid in learning
- Study of the Hudson River and its relationship to science and mathematics
- Focus on the rich heritage of the diverse people of Yonkers and the Hudson Valley, and on their lives, businesses and crafts
- Field trips highlight local artists, writers and other human resources
- Appreciation of and respect for cultural diversity
- 2005 National Title I Distinguished School
- 2004 Pathfinder Award
- Sciences are incorporated into the curriculum, student scientists perform hands-on experiments to explore their world at home and at school
- Literacy by Design is a new reading and writing program
