Yonkers High School

  • The acclaimed International Baccalaureate Programme is the cornerstone of the school’s rigorous curriculum
  • Unique learning environment housing students in grades six through twelve
  • Students who elect to be a part of this academic environment must possess a strong sense of motivation, and students and their parents must affirm their commitment to the high standards of a program of this kind
  • School uniforms are required for all students

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and Pre IB

  • Accredited IB Diploma Programme for grades eleven and twelve
  • Students must meet the academic entrance requirements of demonstrated high academic performance based on report card grades and standardized test scores, and the selection of Yonkers High School during balloting
  • Highly motivated college-bound students will have an opportunity to pursue a rich liberal arts curriculum
  • Students and parents must sign the school’s Placement Agreement indicating that they will adhere to the school uniform policy and Code of Conduct, as well as maintain their academic standing
  • Pre IB courses in grades nine and ten prepare students for the rigorous Diploma level advanced coursework in grades eleven and twelve
  • All students are required to take English, foreign language, mathematics, science, humanities and the arts
  • Students are further required to complete the Theory of Knowledge course, a two-year interdisciplinary seminar, intended to relate learning from disciplines to concepts, historical events, current events and issues of importance; present an Extended Essay, a 4,000 word research project; complete the requirements for Creativity, Action, Service, independently fulfilling 150 hours of extracurricular and/or service activities; and take high level IB examinations in individual subjects
  • College credit can be earned if students attain high scores on the IB examination
