Important Information When Calling 911: Wireless or cellular telephone calls made to "911" are answered by the New York State Police who in turn ask the caller for their specific location and connect the caller to the local Police Department responsible for that area. This causes a slight delay in dispatching help to a location and therefore when possible use a wired home phone and not a cell phone to call "911". If you use a cell phone to call the Yonkers Police Department for an emergency dial: 914-377-7777.

Did you know that New York State students have been sitting for Regents exams since 1865 - the year the Civil War ended? The test was administered in November to 8th grade students.

Originally conceived as entrance exams, the Regents - as generations have called them - evolved into high school end-of-course exams in 1878.

The New York State Library has a collection of Regents exams from about 1930 on. Perhaps you'll find the one exam that you always wanted to take again!
