This is my 14th year teaching in Yonkers Public Schools. I feel incredibly lucky to be teaching art which is something I am extremely passionate about. We all make art and design decisions everyday. The clothes we pick to wear, the car we drive, the food label that attracts us in the store, our smart phone covers, learning about art, and becoming aesthetically literate helps us in all we do.
Before teaching I was a Fashion Designer for the junior market. I spent a great deal of time working in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. After my children came along and with the convincing from several teachers in my own districts schools, I embarked upon this journey of a second career teaching art.
We use Class Dojo to connect with students and parents. In the second half of the school year, the art room becomes choice based where assignments can be created in a variety of ways increasing and supporting student diversity, autonomy and self directed learning in a T.A.B (teaching for artistic behavior) environment
Due to school closure I will be conducting class through TEAMS. I am available Monday - Friday school hours 7:45-2:25 but frequently check class dojo and Teams. Please feel free to contact me at any time and I will respond as quickly as I can. Stay safe and healthy.
