Hello! Welcome to Title I Reading!

I would like to take this opportunity to give you just a bit of information about the Title I Reading program at Museum School 25.  Hopefully, you will find the information useful.

I see most Title I students four or five times a week for approximately thirty to forty-five minutes each class period.

During these times, your child will receive supplemental reading instruction.  This is in addition to the reading instruction he/she receives  in their regular classroom.  Primarily, the skills being taught will involve phonics, sight word vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.

The importance of home involvement cannot be stressed enough!  Please encourage your child to read to you or with you for at least 15 minutes each evening.  Practice does make better readers!  I also recommend reading to your child (yes, even to those 5th graders)!  Reading to your child is a great way to expand their vocabulary, model good reading, and work on comprehension skills.

During the course of the year, I will send home ideas and ways you can use to help your child at home.

Please feel free to contact me, your child's Tilte I Reading teacher.  I am always available to answer questions and offer suggestions.
