Why History is Important!!
-
The study of History is important because it tells us Who we are, Where we come from, What we did, What we believe, etc. We've all studied the famous individuals in History. But we need to remember that they were just regular people who did big things at the right time in their lives. This past year, my son John and I did some investigation into our Family Tree. We all would like to think we are related to the Queen of England, or Abraham Lincoln, or some other famous person. I'm not ! (LOL!). But I do have some relatives who made their mark on History- which is pretty cool! This is why we study History!!
I always thought that I was 7/8's Irish, 1/8 Scottish. It turns out that I also have some French, English, Channel Islands (Jersey), Canadian, German, Belgian, and Native American in my Tree. Most of my family came to America through Boston, and Newfoundland/ Prince Edward Island in Canada. I have relatives who fought in the American Revolution, the Civil War, World War 1, World War 2, Vietnam, etc. It is an ongoing journey that keeps getting more fascinating!
Please read about these two members of my family. I STRONGLY recommend you look into your own family history and see what you can find! Bring your History Alive!!!
