Greetings parents and welcome to the new school year. My name is Mrs. Ponte and I am your child's teacher. I have had the privilege of working with your children for the past 2 weeks. We have been working on establishing routines in ELA, using Benchmark Advance, and have been practicing our writing using R.A.C.E. (restate,answer,claim,evidence), among other things. In math we have been reviewing multiplication and regrouping, as well as place values up to the thousands place. Your children are eager to learn and I am lucky to have them in my class. I have been a teacher at the Cesar Chavez School since January of this year. However, I have been with the Yonkers Public schools for 16 1/2 years.

My expectations for your child this year is to demonstrate  academic growth in all subjects.One way that we can accomplish this is by working together and ensuring that your child completes all of his classroom and homework assignments, coming to school everyday, reading every night and completing a reading log, and practicing their multiplication facts.
