Mrs. Beth Kroupa
This is my 16th year teaching in Yonkers Public Schools.
I feel incredibly lucky to be teaching art: something I am extremely passionate about. We all make art and design decisions everyday. The clothes we pick to wear, the car we drive, the food label that attracts us in the store, our phone covers, shoes, etc.
Learning about art, and becoming aesthetically literate helps us in all we do! It teaches us how to be critical thinkers. Please see the the attached photo of Eliot Eisner's Ten Lessons the Art Teach!
Before teaching I was a Fashion Designer for the junior market. I spent a great deal of time working in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. Then I embarked upon this journey of a second career teaching art.
Supplies will be discussed in class. For now all you need are the basics: a pencil, eraser, perhaps a sharpie or two and if you would like to contribute anything to help with the classroom, such as wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues, that would be greatly appreciated!
The only other item you need is the willingness to try! I look for effort and participation!
Communication with parents will be primarily thru Class Dojo (invite to follow) and/or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I also display work on my school Twitter page under KroupaBeth. Please be sure to check it out!
I look forward to working with all of you!
