  • Hi all!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are enjoying the nice weather! Our students were given a final project to work on last week. If they are still not done that is alright. It is important that our students stay engaged with their education, but it is alright that everyone works at their own pace.

If your student is already finished, please see the links below for more readings and activities for your student to work on.

As always, please check out castlearning, i-ready, and my homepage for activities that will help keep your child learning!

Hope to see you all soon!

    Good Morning parents,
Very important: If your child is going to be participating in the extended school year program (summer school) I will need a new doctors prescription for the student to receive physical therapy!!
Most doctors will send out a prescription for services at this time. Some can email or fax and some will mail them out. Some will allow you to show up to the office and pick one up.
I have attached the PT script to this email. Once you have the script please email me and we can make arrangement to get it to me and central office.
Teachers, administrators and supports staff, if you have a script from AR meetings or know that one was turned in, let me know as that is very helpful.

A topic that comes up frequently is sleep

Sleep problems are common for children with autism, difficulties initiating and maintaining sleep, frequent and prolonged night awakenings, irregular sleep–wake patterns, short sleep duration, and early-morning waking.

Trying to find a way to improve a child's sleep is so important because we know that good quality sleep can improve overall health and quality of life.

*Email me if you have a specific concern

**If this is not a problem area please email me what works for your child it may help another family. All suggestions are appreciated.

    Bringing Families Together

At a time when personal devices are ever more popular and individual viewing has become the norm, The Not-Too-Late-Show with Elmo brings people together for a shared and uplifting experience that has something for everyone. Young children love seeing their Sesame Street friends in a new way, madcap behind-the-scenes humor keeps older kids laughing, and grown-ups get a kick out of seeing celebrity guests have silly fun with Elmo. Creating a space for gathering, giggling, and simply being together, The Not-Too-Late-Show delights in spreading the loving spirit of the beloved red monster himself.

    Learning While Laughing

Kids learn best when they are engaged with a caring adult, whether it’s a passionate teacher or a loving parent or caregiver. By bringing different age groups together, The Not-Too-Late-Show with Elmo sets up for learning success at home. A whole-child curriculum promotes not just academic, but social-emotional skills through a variety of games and guest challenges, with traditional teaching moments sprinkled throughout. With each episode themed on a different part of Elmo’s bedtime routine like brushing teeth, putting on pajamas, and reading a story, the show can be a perfect way to help children bring their day to a close while reinforcing their own family’s evening rituals.

Check it out: Each episode runs 15 minutes long

    Keyboarding/Typing skills

Teaching keyboard skills using fun typing apps & games makes learning fun!

Start Simple:  Initially, do not use any rewards if the program or game you are using appears to be engaging enough to get your child to remain motivated. You may need rewards later, however, when the amount of practice needed to gain mastery in the skill grows.

Peak an Interest: Practice typing and writing skills about something that is of interest to your child.

    Have fun!
