Welcome to Social Studies Electronic Learning!
These pages are organized by subject area or by grade level. You will find lessons and activities as well as review materials to help you to continue your learning while at home. All the lessons and units are aligned with the New York State Education Department Social Studies Framework (K-12). You will find lessons, activities, reading passages, assessments and Regents review materials in these folders.
The curriculum, textbooks and digital resources:
- The Yonkers Public Schools uses the blended Social Studies/English Language Arts curriculum developed by Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES for grades K-8. In addition, middle school students in grades 7 and 8 use the American Stories (National Geographic/Cengage Publishing) textbook (hardcover and digital) to study U.S. History from the founding of the country through to present day.
- At the high school level, the course of study includes Global History and Geography I and II, U.S. History and Government, U.S. Government and Economics. Global History I and Global History II students use the World History (Houghton Mifflin) textbook and digital textbook and resources. In US History, students use America Through the Lens (National Geographic/Cengage) for their textbook, digital textbook and resources.
The Regents in Social Studies:
- There are two Regents exams offered in Social Studies: Global History and Geography and U.S. History and Government. Review information for the Regents is included within these sections and within the Social Studies Resources page.
