    Dear Dr. Banks,

I hope this letter finds you well. This has been such a crazy year, especially for us educators, which is why I think it is especially important to recognize those who have made a huge impact on our lives.

I want to first thank you for all of the love, support and efforts you and your staff have made to ensure that our students stayed connected to their Montessori 31 Family. The regular calls by Ms. Christina Mahoney to do the morning pledge and say “happy birthday!” was a wonderful reminder that school was still in session, even if we were all apart and at home. Our son was excited to hear his name on one of the announcements for his birthday in April. The calls from all of the support staff, teachers, and yourself were definitely a comfort in a time of uncertainty. Our son would smile big when he heard messages from the people that were such a big part of his daily life, like Mr. Troy and Mr. Coleman Murphy. Ms. Karyn Regan and Ms. Christina Martin have also checked in with us to make sure we are doing well and had everything we needed for our son to succeed. These are such little things, but it made a big difference and was such a nice reminder that we were not experiencing this alone.
Now more than ever, personal connection is incredibly important for making it through these times. Mrs. Cavallo and Ms. Sanders… wow, where do I even begin? I cannot adequately put into words what a phenomenal job Mrs. Cavallo and Ms. Sanders have done to ensure that their classroom family comes out of this on the other side happy and connected. Not only have they been an incredible source of support and joy for our son, but I can never thank them enough for the support they have also provided myself and our family. The offered so much stability and routine to keep the days as normal as possible for our son. This was a huge help in easing many of the struggles we were navigating through as we switched from tradition school to school at home.
I definitely can’t put into words the amount of gratitude and admiration we have for these two remarkable women. They are so dedicated to our children and their classroom family (and their families). I could never repay them for even a quarter of the support the provided our son and our family. I will attempt to express eloquently the gratefulness we are feeling, but please know that this is “just the tip of the iceberg”.
Ms. Sanders is an amazing person. She helped get our son connected to not only his friends in his class, but also a few others from other classes. She made sure to check in weekly, if not more often, just to see how he was handling this new normal. She offered to help him with his work, made sure he was aware of any new assignments, and would just chat with him about how he was feeling and what was going on in his life. He looks forward to talking to her and gets super excited when she calls. His favorite is when they video chat and he actually gets to show her things that are important to him, especially those things he would not have been able to bring to school, like his pet turtle. Ms. Sanders has such a kind heart and is devoted to these children.
Mrs. Cavallo has been there for us from the first day our son walked into her classroom. She has played a major role in helping up figure out how to help our son learn best. During this remote learning process, she has found the best apps and programs to cover all types of learning styles and interests, while still teaching the curriculum. She has made all of her lessons, and the lessons for art, gym, music and enrichment, easily accessible and all in one place. our son spends hours on many of the apps provided and has learned so much not just from the direct learning activities, but incidentally too. Mrs. Cavallo’s community meeting flip grid has be instrumental in keeping the class connected and has allowed them to be themselves and “show off” their ideas and most prized possessions. Her daily read alouds have been a luxury, especially for me as a working from home teacher. our son's younger sister also gets excited to sit and listen to the stories. Her weekly newsletter to the parents helps keep me informed and in tune with what is expected of our son. Mrs. Cavallo’s organization, passion and enthusiasm for learning has made this unique experience one of connection, joy, fun and learning.
Mrs. Cavallo and Ms. Sanders have gone ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure the learning and well-being of our students, not just academically, but as a whole child. They have been a huge emotional support for our son and our family. I don’t know if we would have mentally and emotionally survived this season without their love and compassion. I always try to find the silver lining in times of hardship and if nothing else, this time of separation has brought us closer together. This terrible situation has given our family the opportunity to connect with Mrs. Cavallo and Ms. Sanders on a more personal level, which in the end will create a much richer learning environment for our son.  These words do not do justice to how much appreciation we have for them and everything they have done over this past year, both inside the classroom and outside of it. It is extremely obvious how much Mrs. Cavallo and Ms. Sanders love these children and their roles in shaping their young lives. They are an inspiration to all and I am excited to see the amazingly positive influence they have on Nicholas and his love of learning.

A HUGE THANK YOU to you, Mrs. Cavallo, Ms. Sanders and the rest of the Montessori School 31 Family for all that you have done to make sure this adjustment was made as smooth as possible and for ensuring that our school family stayed a connected family. We are truly blessed to have be placed in your school and we are excited for the years to come. We are PROUD to be part of Montessori School 31!
We hope you have a safe, wonderful and well-deserved summer break! We can’t wait to see you and the rest of the 31 family in September!

Hi Mrs.Kennedy I just wanted to say goodbye. You were the most welcoming and kind teacher I ever had and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I’m going to miss all the days we laughed, cried and we shared sweet moments together. Your kindness makes me a better person without you I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thank you Mrs.Kennedy!

    Dear Mrs.Kennedy,

I would just like to say thank you for everything you taught through these times right now. I would also say thank you for staying in touch with me and caring about me. When we were in school you taught me all the things I needed to know. And even in these harsh times you still do your job of teaching. So, thank you for everything.

    Dear MCC,

I cannot believe our first year together is almost over. I have had so much fun in your class. My mom and dad told me before school started this year how amazing of a teacher you are, and they were correct. I have learned so much and had so much fun, there was nothing I didn’t like. I really miss racing you into school in the morning. My dad and I still talk about how you won the last race we had. I need a rematch!

Do you have any plans for the summer? Our family trip to Puerto Rico was cancelled because of Corona and my whole family is so sad. I can’t wait for things to go back to normal. I miss you and my friends and family. Hopefully we will see you soon! Have a great day!

I want to thank you for letting me play LEGO's with my friends and for letting me socialize with other kids in my class. I also want to thank you for letting me into your class that is one thing I will always thank you FOR.
