School 5 offers a learning environment where students want to learn, where teachers want to work, and where families and visitors are happy to walk through the doors
Students develop citizenship skills through responsibility, accountability, and collaboration in an anti-bullying community that values acceptance
Students are encouraged to engage with one another - Buddies Program pairs sixth-grade students with younger children to supervise them during playtime and to work with them on curriculum-based projects; Peer Mentorship invites eighth grade students to tutor younger students, which encourages responsibility and holds students accountable for the wellbeing of their community.
Response to Intervention program is based on Six Pillars:
Respect
Responsibility
Caring
Fairness
Citizenship
Trustworthiness
Rewards-based learning encourages students to aim for higher academic, physical and social success.
Partnerships expand student learning beyond the classroom with partners such as Junior Achievement, Clearwater, Finance Park, Job Shadowing with AT&T, MasterCard, Caramoor Center for Music and Arts, ArtsWestchester, Juvenile Law, Capital One and the Girl Scouts.
