• School Theme: Citizenship

    • School 5 offers a learning environment where students want to learn, where teachers want to work, and where families and visitors are happy to walk through the doors
    • Students develop citizenship skills through responsibility, accountability, and collaboration in an anti-bullying community that values acceptance
    • Students are encouraged to engage with one another - Buddies Program pairs sixth-grade students with younger children to supervise them during playtime and to work with them on curriculum-based projects; Peer Mentorship invites eighth grade students to tutor younger students, which encourages responsibility and holds students accountable for the wellbeing of their community.
    • Response to Intervention program is based on Six Pillars:
      • Respect
      • Responsibility
      • Caring
      • Fairness
      • Citizenship
      • Trustworthiness
    • Rewards-based learning encourages students to aim for higher academic, physical and social success.
    • Partnerships expand student learning beyond the classroom with partners such as Junior Achievement, Clearwater, Finance Park, Job Shadowing with AT&T, MasterCard, Caramoor Center for Music and Arts, ArtsWestchester, Juvenile Law, Capital One and the Girl Scouts.
