Gender Sexuality Alliance
The Gender Sexuality Alliance seeks to promote an environment where all people are accepted. Together, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight members of the Yonkers High School community ally themselves with one another to create such an environment. The G.S.A. participated in Healing the Hurt, No Name Calling Week, the Day of Silence and World AIDS Day to shine a light on the issue of tolerance.

History Bowl
The National History Bee and Bowl (NHBB) is a nationwide history quiz competition for high school, middle school, and elementary students in the United States. NHBB was founded in 2010 by David Madden, a 14-time Jeopardy champion. By fostering an interest in history among students, NHBB demands that our students make connections across eras, places and themes. As stated by NHBB, “This includes an appreciation of the idea that history is not just a morass of names and dates, but a key to understanding every human endeavor, from the battlefield to the baseball field, from the political arena to the photography studio, from sacred places to the science lab.” The YMHS team will prepare for Regional and National competition.

Hosa Club
Plans to help students interested in health care with exploring career options and engaging in activities to foster a love of health and medicine. HOSA is a national organization designed for aspiring health care professionals. HOSA stands for Health Occupational Students of America.

My Brothers Keeper (MBK)
An empowerment program that focuses on young men. It is open to high school students, eighth-graders and select sixth- and seventh-graders. The students will provide community service while building character and self-esteem. There will be internship opportunities, community service hours, and field trips. The meetings take place on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. Sign up for reminders and updates with “Remind” – code YHSBROTHER.

National Honor Society
National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS serves to honor those who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Open Door Club
We are a community who encourages each other to develop positive values and giving back to our local and global community. We bond over food, music, games and many more engaging Bible activities. Everyone is welcome.

Photography Club
Students learn photo basics and also take photos for yearbook and website of school activities.

Recycling Club
Students will be responsible for collecting and recycling paper in the building.

Relay for Life
Help support the American Cancer Society in so many ways by joining the Relay for Life club. Our team raises awareness in the fight against cancer, which touches so many of our lives. Students volunteer their time by fundraising, participating in events, and giving back to the community. We as a group take part in the annual Yonkers Relay for Life event, held in late spring.

Robotics Team
The mission of robotics at Yonkers Middle High School is to engage students in exciting programs that build science, engineering, technology, math, community service and entrepreneurial skills. These programs inspire innovation and foster self-confidence, communication and leadership. We will utilize participation in the FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION as a vehicle to fulfill these goals.

Science National Honor Society
Students will meet monthly to discuss topics in science. This club is open to juniors and seniors who meet the criteria.

Science Olmpiad
The purpose of the Science Olympiad Club is to encourage students to further their learning of science outside of school, and help them use their knowledge to solve everyday problems and build towers, electrical vehicles and robots. Members compete against other high-achieving students from various schools.

STEMinist
Members will work on bringing STEM-related activities to their elementary schools. They will volunteer to assist with activities in the middle school classrooms.

Student Council
A student advocacy group dedicated to promoting the needs and requests of our student body. Essentially, Student Council is the representative body for all classes of YHS. Members address the concerns of our student body and work towards the betterment of our school community. Students organize and plan activities/events for the student body. All members serve as a liaison between our administration, faculty, student body and the Yonkers Community.

Yearbook
The yearbook committee meets several times a week, working collaboratively to create and publish a book of irreplaceable memories. The staff consists of photographers, layout designers, writers, and editors. Students experience using Ultra Vision software, taking photographs, writing for publication, planning and designing aesthetically attractive pages, and fundraising. Students who purchase a yearbook are invited to a yearbook signing at the senior BBQ in May.
