  • Superintendent Provides State Legislators With Solutions to Close Budget Gap

    Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edwin M. Quezada presented testimony before the New York State Joint Legislative Fiscal and Education Committee earlier this this week. He addressed head-on the structural budget constraints which sabotage Yonkers ability to sustain educational programs and the personnel required to deliver them.  Dr. Quezada offered a four-point plan for sustainable recurring revenue to maintain outstanding academic outcomes for all students - and to close the persistent budget gap.

  • Lincoln Science Research Students Shine in Regional Competition

    Three Lincoln High School Science Research students were among 550 young scientists from throughout the region who participated in the Westchester Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Jessica Abu’s Environmental poster board earned her a coveted 2nd place.

  • Bank Street Awarded $11.2M Grant to Continue Work with Yonkers Public Schools

    The new funding will allow the center to continue its collaboration with 20 schools to help more of the city’s Black, Latinx, and low-income students complete 8th grade math and be on track to earn their high school diplomas.

    Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Schools Superintendent Dr. Edwin M. Quezada recognized Attendance Awareness Month at an assembly at Family School 32 by asking Yonkers students to participate in the Pledge 182 campaign, in which they commit to attending school every day and on time.
