  • Mayor Spano Reappoints Dr. Sayegh to BOE

    As a trustee of the Board of Education, Dr. Sayegh joins eight other members to represent the official policy making body of the Yonkers Public School District.  He previously served a full term, including three years as Board President.

  • Graduation Rate Up. Again.

    The District’s graduation rate increased to 82% for students who first entered 9th grade in 2012, outperforming the Big Five school districts, and the dropout rate was cut in half to 2%, below the state average of 6%.

  • Mayor Spano Appoints Andrea Brown to the Yonkers Board of Education - Reappoints John Jacono

    Mayor Mike Spano today appointed Ms. Andrea Brown to serve as a Trustee of the Yonkers Board of Education for a five-year term. Ms Brown, who also serves as the President of the NAACP Yonkers Branch, will take the Trustee's oath of office at the May 10th Annual Meeting of the Board, but her service to the children of Yonkers begins immediately.
