Saunders students attended the Youth Leadership Conference today enhancing their leadership skills and collaborating with other youth leaders across Westchester

SPRING SPORTS TRYOUTS
Monday March 9, 2026 is the first day of Spring Sports tryouts. As a reminder, only students who are cleared in FinalForms are permitted to attend tryout practices.
Tryouts at Saunders High School:
- Baseball (JV & Varsity)
- Softball (JV & Varsity)
- Girls Flag Football (JV & Varsity)
Yonkers Public Schools District Teams will have buses picking up in the back parking lot after school:
- Track & Field: 2:40 PM – Bus to Lincoln HS
- Girls Lacrosse: 2:45 PM – Bus to Gorton HS
- Boys Lacrosse: 3:00 PM – Bus to Roosevelt HS

All Yonkers Public Schools and Central Office facilities are closed on Monday, February 23, 2026, due to the blizzard warning.
Only building custodians and snow removal team members should report.

Congratulations to Saunders HS junior Ava Corbin for qualifying for the 2026 New York State Wrestling Championship!

Saunders Basketball
On Wednesday February 11, 2026, Saunders Boys Varsity Basketball earned an emotional 52–46 victory on Senior Night, honoring 10 members of the Class of 2026. The evening was highlighted by a historic milestone as Alex Vazquez became the all-time leading scorer in Saunders history. Entering the game needing six points to reach 1,385 career points, he finished with an impressive 24 points, including 20 in the second half. Saunders now awaits playoff seeding to determine their opponent in the Section 1 playoffs.

YPS INDOOR TRACK:
The Yonkers Track team will be competing in the Section 1 Class AA Championships on Sunday Feb 15th. Congratulations to the athletes who have worked hard and qualified to compete at this level.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Lincoln High School, 275 Kneeland Avenue, for an informative Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS) meeting.
All elementary science teachers, secondary science teachers, administrators, and #YonkersPublicSchools parents are most welcome!
Learn about the Grades 5 & 8 Science Tests, Regents exams, new lab investigations, New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS), and much more.
Parents will also get tips on supporting their students in science and preparing for state tests. New York State Education Department (NYSED) representatives will present, and light snacks will be provided.

These student-athletes have shown incredible dedication, leadership, and Blue Devil pride throughout their careers — and tonight is all about recognizing them!

o Alexander Lowe placed 1st overall in 100 breaststroke breaking another pool record, and 5th overall in the 200IM, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay
o London Jones placed 3rd overall in the 200 freestyle relay, 5th overall in the 400 freestyle relay, and 7th overall with a personal best time in the 200 freestyle
o Mateusz Murawski had a personal best time in 500 freestyle
o Honorable mentions to Sophomore Luis Perez Lopez and Sophomore Ylli Topi for participating and helping solidify our 4th place in the division

o The girls team took 3rd place overall in the League Meet!
o In the 1500 meter, Leiana Barrios placed 3rd
o In the High Jump, Marilyn Agyapon placed 3rd.
o In the 1500 racewalk, Daniela Quishpi finished 3rd and Kiera Cleveland came in 6th place.
o The 4 by 200 team that included Mya Campbell took 2nd place.
o The 4 by 400 team that included Leiana Barrios took 1st place.
o The 4 by 800 team that included Mariavictoria Pena, Samantha Sikoryak, and Reina Nichter took 1st place.
o The boys team placed 4th overall.
