YPS Hiring Team

YONKERS, NY — October 8, 2026 — Eager job seekers took full advantage of the Pathways to Success Annual Career Fair.  A steady stream of adult education students networked with local partners who are ready to hire.

“We are so successful at filling positions year after year,” said Adult Education Principal Sanah Naber.  “Our local employers know they can count on us.”

The cafeteria at the adult education program was set up like a job buffet, with employers manning tables and offering a full menu of information, brochures, flyers, applications and promotional goodies.

Among the businesses and agencies looking for quality candidates were Stew Leonard’s, Burlington Coat Factory, Liberty Lines Bus Company, The Yonkers Police Department, The New York State Police, The New York State Department of Corrections and All Care Living Assistance Services.

Yonkers Public Schools (YPS) is also a major source of employment opportunities.  Pathways to Success provides a direct pipeline for students who want to work in the district.  The Human Resources Department is actively seeking food service workers, school bus monitors, school aides and custodial workers.

For adult education students, meeting employers face-to-face offered a chance to practice their language and social skills.

“We offer literacy classes, English as a second language and Career and Technical Education,” said Principal Naber.  “Soft skills are incorporated into all of our classes, so students learn interviewing skills as well.”

Regional Adult Education Network Director Sherri Lattimer was impressed with the networking event.

“This is a vital hub in Yonkers,” Lattimer observed.  “It’s a bright, shining example of what is possible when we remove barriers and create pathways out of poverty.”
