We are incredibly proud of our PEARLS choir students who represented our school at the District-Wide Black History Month Celebration.
Thank you to our amazing choir teacher for preparing our students and helping them share their voices in celebration of BHM.

All Yonkers Public Schools and Central Office facilities are closed on Monday, February 23, 2026, due to the blizzard warning.
Only building custodians and snow removal team members should report.
Please stay home, be safe and continue to monitor the district website and social media platforms for updates.

They added their voices to our hallway heart wall, writing what makes our school special, from friendships and teachers to fun learning experiences.

To top it off, they became the teachers, visiting Mrs. Maldonado’s class to demonstrate how to program and operate the Dash bots.
We love seeing our young learners build confidence while sharing their knowledge with others! 💡👏

Take a walk down our hallways and you’ll see some incredible learning in action! Our first graders recently completed an Arctic Animal Research project, where they read, researched, and wrote about animals that live in cold climates.
Students created amazing dioramas showcasing habitats for polar bears, penguins, Arctic foxes, whales, and more — complete with snow, ice, and detailed animal features!
Alongside their projects, students shared written research explaining where their animal lives, what it eats, and how it survives in the Arctic.
We are so proud of their hard work, creativity, and growing research skills!! 🧊✨

This week, we celebrate, Ms. Judith Rojas-Contreras, for all she does to support our students and families. From crisis support and small group counseling to collaboration and student advocacy, her work helps ensure every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. We are grateful for her dedication to our PEARLS Hawthorne community!

❄️⛄ Under the guidance of Mrs. McCann, students created these one-of-a-kind snowmen using clay, a kiln, and paint. Each piece reflects imagination and artistic skill!

Our 7th and 8th grade students met with Mrs. Rojas this month for an SEL New Year Reset. During the session, students reflected on resolutions, discussed areas they would like to reset, and identified habits they hope to reduce as they move forward into the new year.

🌍 Exploring Our World Inside the Earth Dome! 🌍
Our 5th and 6th graders had an unforgettable hands-on learning experience with the Earth Dome, a giant inflatable model of our planet that visited our school! Students stepped inside the dome to explore continents, oceans, landforms, latitude and longitude, and time zones, all while seeing Earth as a true 3-D globe.
This immersive experience brought geography to life and helped students deepen their understanding of how our planet works and how everything on Earth is connected.
Thank you to the Earth Dome team for an incredible educational visit, the PTA for helping support, and Mr. Gallagher for organizing! 🌎✨

Students dressed up as their favorite characters from a book and brought their love of reading to life.

Congratulations to 6th grader Zakaria Sultan for being selected as a winner of the MBK Poem Contest!
Zakaria was invited to showcase his winning poem at Yonkers Arts, where it is currently on display. We are so proud of his talent, creativity, and hard work!
Way to represent PEARLS! 👏✨
