🧠 Key Takeaways for Students Included:

Understanding warning signs and emotional “red flags”

Learning how to start healthy conversations

Knowing where and how to seek support

Hearing real stories of resilience and hope

We are grateful to the JCK Foundation for providing such an impactful, student-centered experience that empowers our learners to take care of themselves and one another. 💙

🌆 Learning About Our Community with a Special Guest! 🌆

This week, our 1st grade students had a special visit from Mr. Jaime Martinez, an Urban Planner for the City of Yonkers and a proud PEARLS parent! As part of our HMH module on Communities and Neighborhoods, Mr. Martinez visited each classroom to share what an Urban Planner does and how their work shapes the places where we live, work, and play.

Students were fascinated to learn about his work on the Ridge Hill project and enjoyed seeing historic maps of Yonkers—some of which were authentic, hand-drawn originals that they were able to touch!

It was an engaging, hands-on learning experience that truly brought maps, history, and our community to life for our young learners. 🗺️✨
