We’re thrilled to welcome Brenda Cardoza, the new Yonkers Public Schools Parent Coordinator! Ms Cardoza is a long-time advocate and trusted voice for our families. Her work will center on strengthening parent engagement and supporting our vulnerable student population, particularly those served under the McKinney-Vento Act, which addresses the needs of students experiencing homelessness. Surrounding Ms. Cardoza is Associate Superintendent Lissette Colón-Collins (left), and Superintendent of Schools Aníbal Soler, Jr. (right).

Good morning Yonkers Public Schools! Today, Monday, September 15, 2025, is a "C" Day. But, wait! The week begins with a C and ends with an A? You've got this. 💯 Carpe Diem!

Good Evening YMA Learning Community
Thank you to all the parents and students that attended last evening curriculum night at YMA. It was great to speak to so many of you and see you visiting classrooms and meeting YMA teachers.
Please review the reminders and updates below:
- All students were provided with emergency cards and other opening of school documents. Please return them to school as soon as possible. Completed documents should be returned to the teacher that provided them to the students.
- Please join the YMA PTSA. We cant have a PTSA without our parents. Membership link can be found by clicking here. We will hold our first PTSA meeting in October. Date to follow!
- Download the YPS App from the Apple App Store or Google Play and select to receive alerts from YMA. For more information visit the Yonkers Public Schools Website
- Parent Portal – please make sure you have access to the parent portal – access to grades assignments and attendance. For more information click - https://www.yonkerspublicschools.org/page/parentportal
- Please submit your child’s updated health records and immunization records
- Our school opens for students at 7:25am. When dropping your children at school, please do not park your car around the permitter of the school and leave your car unattended. This blocks our busses and creates more traffic.
- During the day, please limit dropping off food and other items to school. This creates distractions to the students instruction and class time.
- If you need to reach your child, please call the main office at 914 376 8540 or email your child’s assistant principal. You can also email me directly.
Together let’s make this school year the BEST for our entire learning community
Thank You

Good Evening YMA Faculty, Staff, Families and Students,
Please review the information sent to your email. We will begin this school year joining Yonkers Public Schools and the State of New York as we implement the bell to bell distraction free school day which requires students to restrict the use of internet enabled devices during the school day.
To support our students, Yonkers Public Schools is providing every student with a device to use in school and take home. Please read the letter in the email along with completing the parent consent that will be available on September 3rd.
Together we will make this year the best ever at YMA. I can't wait to welcome our entire learning community home to YMA for the 2025-26 school year.
Sincerely,
Don DeMatteo
