👏 Earlier today, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano joined Superintendent of Schools Aníbal Soler, Jr. to present the School Spotlight Award to School 16, recognizing the school’s excellence in Innovation & Future-Ready Skills and Student Agency, Leadership & Civic Engagement.

School 16 earned this recognition through its Recycled Roots: Yonkers Landmarks Gallery Walk, an interdisciplinary Pre-K–8 project that connects classroom instruction to real-world environmental challenges in Yonkers.

137 students were recently recognized at the Take A Look At Teaching/Grow Your Own (TALAT/GYO) Awards Ceremony for their dedication to exploring careers in education alongside certified Yonkers Public Schools teachers serving as mentors. 🍎

Through hands-on experiences in elementary classrooms, middle and upper elementary school students, support small group instruction, while high school students develop skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and other key areas of teaching. The program also helps students build important soft skills such as teamwork, communication, professionalism, and time management, all while making a meaningful impact on younger learners.

Created in 2020 by Yonkers Federation of Teachers President Samantha Rosado-Ciriello, the TALAT/GYO Program continues to grow, helping inspire the next generation of educators and strengthen the future teacher pipeline right here in Yonkers. #YonkersPublicSchools🌟

Families, #YonkersPublicSchools invites you to attend the 2026 Yonkers All City Music Festival this Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 6:00-7:30PM in the Josephine Caruso Auditorium at Lincoln High School. The festival features the All-City String Ensemble, Yonkers Middle High School Madrigal Singers, several choirs, and the All-City Band! We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming celebration!

59 students at the Patricia A. DiChiaro School took part in an empowering My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) and My Sister’s Keeper (MSK) celebration. 💙

Throughout the year, students engaged in activities focused on leadership, confidence, communication, and personal growth. At the celebration, they received certificates and letters of recommendation and reflected on their goals, dreams, and progress since the start of the school year.

We are proud of these inspiring students and grateful to their families and staff for celebrating alongside them. 🌟 The event was attended by Superintendent Soler, Effie Phillips from Mayor Mike Spano’s Office, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, Jacob Weitzman from the Office of New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, MBK Executive Director Dr. Marvin Robinson III, and Associate Superintendents Lissette Colon-Collins, Dr. Eileen E. Rivera, and Dr. Stephanie McCaskill.

Congratulations to Yvonne Reynolds, registered nurse from Montessori School 27!

The East Yonkers Kiwanis Bronx Westchester South Division proudly honored #YonkersPublicSchools registered nurse Yvonne Reynolds at the 14th Annual Nurse Appreciation Award Ceremony and Dinner. Her dedication, compassion, and passion for supporting children’s health and well-being make her a truly deserving recipient of this award.

Congratulations to all the nurses honored across Yonkers and thank you for the care, kindness, and love shown each day.

The #YonkersPublicSchools Summer Enrichment Academies registration is open for all K-8 elementary students! This summer, K–5 students enrolled in the academy will participate in engaging, hands-on learning experiences designed to make learning fun. Middle school students will have the opportunity to choose from specialized cohorts in engineering, crime scene investigation, and civics through film.

The deadline to register is Friday, May 22, 2026.

The Yonkers Board of Education unanimously re-elected Dr. Rosalba Corrado Del Vecchio as President and Trustee Gail Burns as Vice President for a one-year term.

⚖️ Eighth grade students at Patricia A. DiChiaro School are gaining hands-on experience in the judicial system through the Thurgood Marshall Jr. Mock Trial Program!

Students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses as they prepare cases, question witnesses, and compete against other schools at the Bronx Supreme Courthouse. Through this experience, students are building confidence, teamwork, public-speaking, and critical-thinking skills.
