Reminder to families: No school for students on Monday, October 20, 2025 for Superintendent’s conference day. We look forward to seeing students return on Tuesday, October 21.

This week’s Coach, Mentor, Model meeting was all about leadership, teamwork, and growth! Principals collaborated in team activities led by Associate Superintendent, Dr. Rivera, explored the NYSED Portrait of a Graduate, and learned about transferable skills from Principal Schrade.

💡 They also reviewed how to use data insights to better support student success — all while proudly wearing pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Together, #YonkersPublicSchools is preparing students to become the leaders of tomorrow. 🎓✨

Board of Education President Dr. Rosalba Del Vecchio returned to Enrico Fermi School and felt the same warmth that once shaped her as a student. Walking the familiar halls, she paused at La Bodeguita de Fermi – the school’s new community bodega filled with food and essentials for families.

Dr. Del Vecchio praised Principal Melissa Rodriguez and the partnership with Feeding Westchester that made this possible. The Board of Education had approved this initiative earlier in the year, but seeing it in action carried a different weight. The shelves, the colors, the quiet gratitude in the air – each detail spoke to what community looks like when service meets empathy.

As part of #SchoolBoardRecognitionWeek, the visit reminded us that behind every policy are people. For Dr. Del Vecchio, it also brought back memories of her own time at Fermi – her National Honor Society induction, her graduation, and the pride that still lives in those walls.

Yusuf’s submission on “Why reading is important for your health and wellness” stood out among 145 New York State entries!

Superintendent Soler stopped by to support the PTA’s Hispanic Heritage Month food sale — a celebration of culture, community, and incredible cuisine! From savory Empanadas and Arroz con Pollo with Habichuelas to sweet Tres Leches and more, every dish was a hit!
