Mr. Michael Walpole Honored With Leadership In Education Award
School 23 Principal Michael Walpole was honored by the Board of Education with the Leadership in Education Award during the June 14, 2022 Stated Meeting. Presented by the Rotary Club of East Yonkers, the award is conferred on an administrator who personifies the spirit, dedication and accomplishments of an outstanding instructional leader.

Three Teachers of the Year Inducted into Hall of Fame
The Yonkers Board of Education formally inducted three extraordinary educators into the Teachers Hall of Fame during the June 14, 2022 Stated Meeting. The 66th Annual Teacher of the Year award was presented to Dawn Marie Soliman, Sunitha Howard, and Theresa Smith.

#YPSBeKind Challenge Results Are In!
We are delighted to present the winners of the #BeKindYPS Challenge, the collaboration between Yonkers Public Schools and the Yonkers Council of PTA/PTSAs that encouraged students to express what kindness means to them. Prizes were awarded by the YCPTA for the most creative expressions in the visual arts and in social media.

Congratulations to James Adamo (#7), a student at PEARLS Hawthorne School, for his first-place finish last night in the 56th annual Fifth Grade Spelling Bee. Second place honors go to Adam Al-Shareqi (#15), a student at Westchester Hills School 29, and third place honors belong to Vesper Victoriano (#36), a student at Rosemarie Siragusa School.

At the 141st Annual Meeting of the Yonkers Board of Education on May 10, 2022, the Trustees re-elected Rev. Steve Lopez and Dr. Rosalba Corrado-Del Vecchio to serve as president and vice-president.
