Welcome 2020-2021 School Year!

I will be available by email at mforchetti-paska@yonkerspublicschools.org, Remind App and our new Edmodo page

I check my messages regularly so reach out if you have any concerns.

I am so excited to have my students return as 8th graders.  This will be my 5th year teaching in Yonkers public schools.  I am so fortunate to be at Kahlil Gibran and to teach my students for 2 years, as 7th graders and as 8th graders.  I am able to get a better understanding of their individual learning styles and academic needs.

It is hard to believe that I am starting my 22nd year as a teacher! Most of my experience is with the Special Needs population.  I have worked throughout Westchester County and The Bronx with various school districts servicing students with learning disabilities.  I also spent 5 years in The Bronx teaching ELA where I received extensive training in Literacy training.

Being a Yonkers native, I was so excited to be called to teach here.  I am a product of the Yonkers Public Schools so I do know Yonkers well.  I cherish my learning experience as a student and I embrace my learning as an educator.  I hope to show all my students the importance of education in and out of school.

Welcome to 7th Grade

I am so excited to be joining the wonderful team at Kahlil Gibran!  I teach ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science in the 15:1 Special Education class.  Visit my webpage weekly to find out what we are doing in class.  My students have established their Writer's Notebook where they write entries each day. They have also created Reading Response Journals where they can practice their reading skills.

The S.S. curriculum for 7th grade is starting with World Explorers and moving towards Westward Expansion.

The Math curriculum this year will depend on my students' needs.  We are currently working on angles and using a protractor.

My 7th graders will start preparing this year for the 8th grade state science exam.  We are starting with Living Environment and hope to complete many labs this year.  Your children are excited to get started experimenting!
