Welcome to Speech and Language!
My name is Deana Marie Ureña, a Speech Language Pathologist at Museum School 25. This is my fifth year working as a SLP in Yonkers Public Schools, and my second year working at School 25. I received my Bachelor's Degree at Pace University in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2012. I obtained my Master of Science at Mercy College in Speech Language Pathology in 2014. I also hold my Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP), PRAXIS II Certification and my Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSSLD) license to practice in NYS. I am your child's SLP for the 2019-2020 school year.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you are all feeling mentally and physically strong during this unique situation we are all facing. I understand this is not the way we expected to end our school year. However, I do believe we can utilize our time constructively (as a united front) and come out stronger in the end!
Due to the extended school closure, I have provided assignments and activities to continue working on your child's speech and langauge goals at home. Be sure to check your child's IEP goals for the 2019-2020 school year, to target their specific speech and/or language needs.
Hours of Availability:
I am available weekdays (Monday-Friday) from 8:30am to 12:00pm via e-mail and scheduled phone conferences
I have created an online account on Education.com, which can also be downloaded as an app for Android or Apple electronics. I have personalized an account tailored to your child's grade-level reading and writing skills. These tasks target many of your child's speech objectives; including articulation, phonology, receptive/expressive and pragmatic language skills. Using this program, I am able to monitor your child's progress as they complete each level. I will updating and reviewing assignments weekly.
Please log in and access your child's account at the following link: Education.com Program
You will then need to enter the access code provided to you via email.
If you have any questions at all regarding your child's program, please contact me via email. I will be on the lookout!
