Today is going to be a great day!: 6º Grade

I am excited to be your child’s sixth grade ELA/Social Studies teacher for the 2021-2022 school year! I have been teaching for 13 years. I completed my Masters in Childhood Special Education at Fordham University, and my Reading Specialist Masters at Teachers College, Columbia University. I spent most of my career at elementary charter schools in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I started working  at Yonkers Public Schools District in 2019.

In ELA, we will study reading, writing, phonics, vocabulary, and grammar using the Benchmark Advance Program.  Under the NYS Next Generation standards, sixth grade social studies involves studying the History of Eastern Hempishere Nations. This includes much of Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the islands of Oceania. We will focus on identifiable characteristics including human population, migration, climate, landforms, physical environment, bodies of water, political, economic, and cultural features.

I look forward to partnering with my families and students to have a productive and successful academic year!
