Marcus C. John is an independent Artist and Author born and raised in Yonkers, NY. Marcus defines his creative energy as Poet, Hip Hop artist, Writer, Teaching Artist, and Yogi. As Ceo of Soulbox Entertainment, Marcus has curated events for more than ten years throughout New York City and held prominent workshops locally and nationally. Marcus has led workshops and performances at Virginia State University, Utica College, Delaware State University, Sarah Lawrence College, The Natural Museum of Art (NYC), The Masters School (NYC), The Edward Hopper House of Art and The Hudson River Museum.
Marcus has been teaching Spoken Word and Hip Hop for over 13 years in Elementary and High Schools across Westchester County and New York City. He currently has two published books in circulation. “The Book of John ”(2019) is a self written work of poetry and prose. In addition, he has a collaborative piece with teenage writers and artists within the Yonkers Community titled “Peak of the Palisades” (2016). Marcus continues to teach the youth, while staying active in the arts and event planning as a way to connect people and build relationships.
