Let's Read Who Moved My Cheese

Who moved my cheese is a fable about four characters who live in a maze and they all love cheese. When the cheese disappears, Scurry and Sniff enthusiastically head out into the maze to find new cheese. On the other hand Hem and Hall feel betrayed and complain.

Talk about these questions before looking at the text:

    1. What does it mean if someone picks on you?
    2. How does it feel if someone says something unkind to you?
    3. What could you say if someone says something unkind to you?
    4. What could you say if someone says something unkind to your friends?
    5. Just because someone says something unkind does that make them a bad person?

Listen to read aloud: One by Kathryn Otoshi

    Read the Text and Discuss:

    1. Why do you think Red was unkind to Blue?
    2. How do you think Blue feels when Red is unkind?
    3. Why did the other colors not stand up to Red?
    4. How does Blue feel that no one will stand up to Red until One comes along?
    5. Why did the colors decide to become upstanders?

After Reading the Text Discuss these Questions:

    1. Is it better to just walk away from a bully, rather than standing up to them? What could you do instead?
    2. If you were one of the other colors, what would you have said to Red?
    3. Would you have invited Red to become your friend after everything had happened?

    Closing:

How we can help others when they are confronted with bullying?
