Dear Families,

Welcome to Room 303 at Paideia 24!  I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year!

I want there to be open communication between us.   If at anytime you have a question, I will be happy to talk with you.  Please write a message on Class Dojo, and I will try to respond as soon as possible. I want you to feel well informed throughout the year.  Please check your child’s backpack daily for important letters and notes.

Our Mailboxes:
Each student will have their own mailbox.  Homework and important papers will go home daily.  Absent students will receive assignments in their mailbox as well.

Bus and Walker Dismissal:

All bus students will be put on the bus unless we have been notified in writing that they are being picked up by an authorized person with ID.  For security reasons, we ask that you, or whoever is picking up your child, check in at the office first to sign out your child. Please refrain from entering the building and going directly to the classroom. It is imperative that we follow the proper sign-out protocol to ensure safety for all.
Walkers will be dismissed from the exit doors in the cafeteria at 3:05pm each day. Please be on time when picking up your child. If you are aware that you will be late or have an emergency please call the office at the number below to notify them immediately. After 3:15 pm all children still waiting for pick-up will be escorted to the office. Please ensure that any changes to dismissal are made in writing.

Volunteers & Chaperones:
Volunteers and Class Trip Chaperones are much needed and a welcome part of the classroom. I really look forward to working with you! This partnership is SO important to make our classroom successful. Together we will work on making this year a wonderful one!

Homework:
Daily homework will be assigned to all students and will consist of reading, and math practice to support what was learned in class that day. Additionally, from time to time, homework will consist of ELA reading comprehension practice, writing summaries, social studies and science assignments.

Homework that is daily is expected to be turned in the following day at school unless informed otherwise. Work given out on Thursdays will be turned in on Mondays to allow for time to complete writing assignments.

Children who do not complete homework will complete during recess time.  Many missed assignments will affect your child’s grades.

Rewards & Consequences:
Our class will be able to earn rewards for positive behavior and hard work.  When the class earns a compliment from an adult in the building, cubes are added to our jar.   When the jar is full, students will decide together what type of party they would like to have.

Read! Read! Read!

Read with your child as much as possible.  This special time is critical to successful literacy development.
