Dear 2nd Grade Families,

Welcome to our 2nd Grade Class Page. This year promises to be filled with learning, fun and growth. The past few years have brought about many changes due to the global pandemic. We have and continue to successfully navigate through these ever-changing times. We do this as a "Unified Team” (students/teachers/parents/school).

Our class goal this year is to create a valuable, nurturing, and rigorous learning experience. As a "Unified “Team”, we are following class routines and are working hard to meet academic expectations and our class goal.  Together we will successfully meet this goal by the end of this school year. 

The students will begin by reviewing the basic reading and math skills.  As the year progresses, they will be challenged to build upon these reading and math skills.  They will learn many more exciting things in reading and math.  We will also explore many interesting topics in Science and Social Studies.  Students will expand their skills in writing through reports and responses to literature.  They will become more independent learners.

Homework will be given every night except Friday.  As part of their daily assignment, students are expected to read for 15 minutes every night.  They must record this on their reading log.  Reading logs will be collected when the student is done reading and recording about their book.  Each student’s goal will be to have read 25 books by the end of the school year.   A behavior report on Class Dojo will be available to see what type of day your child had in school.

Currently,  I use ClassDojo to communicate, unite and bring us closer together. Messages, reminders, participation and anything else of importance will be relayed using ClassDojo. Recess/Lunch is everyday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
