 Hello,

My name is Deborah Riccuiti. I am new to School 9! I have worked at YMA back when it was called Mark Twain Middle School for 8 years. I have worked at Paideia School 24 for the past 7 years. I love teaching! I have taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade and 6th grade. When I am not in school, I love to be with my husband, our son and our daughter. We have a dog. He is a Weimaraner. Have you ever heard of a Weimaraner? A lot of people have not. He is a great dog and we love him so much!

While we face new challenges during virtual learning, we will get through this together. I am here to support you in any way I can. I am available daily through Class Dojo from 8:35 to 3:15. Leave a message for me and I will get back to you in a timely fashion.

You can log onto Teams from Clever. To log onto Clever, you will use your 6 digit ID number@yonkerspublicschools.org. Your password is 8 digits, 2 digit month, 2 digit day and 4 digit year. You will click on the Teams icon to get started to join a meeting.

You will have Physical Education class on Thursdays 9:40-10:10. You will have Art class on Tuesdays 9:40-10:10.

Assignments can be found on our class Teams page. I will also be posting the assignments on our Class Dojo page. Assignments can be handed in on Teams. They can also be handed in on Class Dojo. As we get more comfortable with virtual learning and handing in assignments, any one of these platforms will work for handing in completed work. It is my expectation that all assignments will be completed and handed in on time.

In the event of technical difficulties, log off for 30 minutes while the problem gets resolved. During this time, your child can read independently for 30 minutes or do one of the assignments posted to our class page. Be patient as we are all in this together. Try logging on after 30 minutes.

Our virtual supply list will include: 4 composition notebooks, 2 boxes of sharpened pencils, a dry erase board and dry erase markers or unlined white paper, 2 plastic pocket folders and of course an iPad, laptop or desktop.

Please note that attendance will be taken daily. To be marked present, your child must be logged in during our virtual meetings.

We will have rules in our virtual classroom just as we would have if we were in the classroom together! Find a quiet place to learn, free from distraction. Be respectful when your video is on. No inappropriate behaviors or gestures. Such behaviors will be addressed with your parents and our principal. We take these matters seriously. When you have a question, raise your hand. Stay focused and stay on task.

We will begin virtual learning at 8:45 daily.

Please note that our schedule on Wednesdays will be different. There will be instruction from 8:35 - 9:35 and 10:05 - 11:05. Students are expected to work independently the rest of the school day. Also, if a holiday falls on a Monday then we will follow the regular schedule on a Wednesday.

A reminder to all families. A COVID form must be filled out daily before your child enters the school building.

My students will enter the building from the Fairview Street entrance at 8:40. Remote learners, please give us time to get settled in our classroom before we start our virtual learning day. Please be patient as we are starting a new phase of learning. 

There will be grab and go breakfast when your child enters the building.

Mask breaks will occur a minimum of four times daily.

Lunch will alternate between the cafeteria and the classroom.

*Please note: Schools are closed Monday, October 12th in observance of Columbus Day. Track A students will be attending school in person on Tuesday and Wednesday for this week only. Track B students will be attending school in person on Thursday and Friday.
