Welcome

My name is Ms. Brannan, and I have been teaching in the Yonkers Public Schools District for the past nineteen years. I want to welcome you as a partner in your child's education. You have been their first teacher and will continue to teach them many things.  Third grade is a transition year, and now that your child is getting older, their education will start to look a bit different. They have been learning to read in Prek-grade 2, and we will be continuing reading instruction; however, there will be greater emphasis on reading to learn in all content areas.

Your child will be expected to gain independence and be responsible for their behavior, classwork, homework, and materials. He or she is also expected to be prompt, polite, productive, prepared, positive, and focused on: progress, effort, and producing quality work. Please encourage your child to speak with me when they have a concern so that we can have a conversation and develop a plan to address it.
