MATH FACT FLUENCY: SUMDOG
Math fact fluency is fundamental to fourth grade mathematics and math in general.
Students need to practice multiplication facts daily.
Please ensure that your child practices on SUMDOG every night for 10-15 minutes. Students have a daily multiplication check AND a math fact challenge to practice assigned multiplication tables. The students who are doing this consistently each night are making progress.
Accuracy AND speed are important in knowing math facts.
Please support your child by ensuring that they practice on SUMDOG each day, on a computer, tablet or smart phone.
Most nightly homework may be found on CLEVER.
The APPS that should be used are:

New Homework Items...
Assignments are now being given through the I-Ready App.
Sumdog homework will be the daily multiplication check and there is a weekly math fact challenge.
Students who are not yet fluent in math facts (multiplication) will be writing out their facts at night to help them develop fluency.
Nightly reading: after reading for 20 minutes, students log the information (date, title of book, pages read). Students then pick a question from their question baggie and answer in their reader's response notebook.
Homework is given daily as a reinforcement to concepts taught in the classroom.
Most homework will be found on Clever in the following APPS:
If your child is absent, they can check Clever and find the daily assignments on these APPS.
Assignments on CLEVER
Please help your child to become independent in signing onto CLEVER on their computer, tablet or phone.
The username is their school ID with @yonkerspublicschools.org
The password is their 8 digit birthday.
All students now have their log in information for Khan Academy (look in the back of their homework notebook). If they cannot get into Khan through Clever...they may go to KhanAcademy.org in their browser...sometimes that works better.
For students without devices at home...I will have in-class computer time a few days per week when they may do the Clever assignments.
Please not occasionally these sites have glitches, so be patient. Please email me if you have any recurring issues with a site.
Student Pick Up Procedure
Only people listed on the Emergency Dismissal form may pick up students. If you would like an older sibling pick up your child... you must notify the school in writing (email is fine). Please email me at email@example.com with this information.
Bus students are dismissed from the classroom at 2:45PM.
Parents of bus students who need to pick up their child from school must come to the school BEFORE 2:45PM.
Students who are picked up each day will meet parents in the back door of school (by playground)at 3:05PM.
Students may not walk home or walk with a sibling unless the school has written permission (or email) from parents.
This year, students will be working on homework assignments and enrichment activities on a variety of APPs on CLEVER.
Please assist your child in accessing CLEVER using their school ID and password (8 digit birthday).
Students can access most APPS in directly CLEVER without other passwords. I have given students Khan Academy login information.
I will be assisting students to access these programs in the classroom this week.
