I cannot believe this is my 19th year teaching at PEARLS!! Seems like yesterday I was in the classroom for the first time as a teacher. After completing my undergrad, I interned for a year at a school in Manhattan and fell in love with teaching, especially the middle school population! I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Secondary Eng. I hold certifications in English 7-12 as well as Gifted/Talented. I consider myself a lifelong learner and enjoy school so much. I recently went back to school for a Summer Institute program, at Columbia University's Teacher College, Reimanging Education. Through this program, I am working towards an Advanced Certificate, again through Teacher's College, in the subject area of Reimanging Education: Education for a Racially Just Society.I spent last summer becoming a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Responder.
My greatest achievement is I am the mother of a 10th grader and was also my daughter's Girl Scout Troop leader for 4 years!!. When I am not in school, my favorite pastimes include: spending time with family, traveling, reading, cooking, and listening to music.
I have met so many great students along the way and always learn so much from each student I encounter. I look forward to a new and exciting year with you all!
