Welcome to Social Studies Distance Learning!
These pages are organized by subject area or grade level. You will find lessons and activities to continue your learning while at home. Lessons are aligned with the New York State Education Department Social Studies Framework (K-12). All students should use the Student Activity Logs to document all work.
The curriculum, textbooks and digital resources:
- The Yonkers Public Schools uses the blended Social Studies/English Language Arts curriculum developed by Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES for grades K-8. Grades 7 and 8 use the American Stories (National Geographic/Cengage Publishing) textbook (hardcover and digital) to study U.S. History from the founding of the country through to present day.
- At the high school level, the course of study includes Global History and Geography I and II, U.S. History and Government, U.S. Government and Economics. Global History I and Global History II students use the World History (Houghton Mifflin) digital textbook and resources. In US History, students use America Through the Lens (National Geographic/Cengage) digital textbook and resources.
The Regents in Social Studies:
