Mrs. Penny Arenas

Hello Everyone and welcome to my summer humanities academy page.  I have been teaching in Yonkers for twenty years.  I have taught 7-12 grades in many different schools throughout Yonkers.  I am currently teaching at Palisade Preparatory School Global History for 10th graders and serve as the Social Studies Department Liaison.  I have three children of my own two boys and a girl.  I am really excited to be your teacher.  I can't wait to explore and have fun with you.

Humanities Virtual Summer Academy - The Yonkers History Project

Students you are living during a remarkable time of change in a city that has a remarkable history. The Humanities Virtual Summer Academy is designed to engage students as they investigate their city and how it has changed through The Yonkers History Project, a study of Yonkers and their own lives. The academy’s teachers and students will take a projectbased learning approach; including investigating what life was like during Yonkers’ past and what it is like living in the city today. Students will use their creativity and develop their own voices through developing digital projects using computers and different technologies under the guidance of their teachers in this collaborative and interactive academy.

We will be using Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex.  Attendance will be taken daily.  You must use your Yonkers Email address and password to access Microsoft Teams.

We will be live everyday starting at 8:45am
