Ms. Elaine Vitale

I have been a Title I Reading Teacher at Hostos for the last twenty-one years.  During this time, I have worked with students in all grade levels.  For the 2021 - 2022 school year, I will be servicing grades 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8.  I take great pride in establishing a good rapport with my students and love making reading fun for them!

Besides being a Title I Reading Teacher, I have also served as the MicroBank and Finance Academy Facilitator.  I have trained students on how to be the Chief Finance Officer for their Micro venture/agency.  They learned how to apply for a loan, establish a budget, take attendance, do payroll, pay taxes and loans, as well as keep track of all venture/agency income.  It takes a lot of organization and strong math skills to be a CFO.  At MicroBank, the students were responsible for cashing employee checks, keeping a record of both employee and venture/agency withdrawals and deposits, counting money, and collecting tax and loan payments.  This is the most visited business of MicroCity.

Another role that I have played at Hostos is Test Coordinator.  I was in charge of scheduling, helping proctors during administration, and organizing the tests for administration.  This job, just like the other two, required a lot of planning, organization, and patience.

Although I have worn many different hats at Hostos, they all share one common thread: my adoration of the Hostos students. They are the reason I have stayed at Hostos for so many years.  I truly enjoy being part of this community.
