A MESSAGE TO STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
Greetings!
Welcome back students and families! It is an honor and a privilege to work with all of you during this 2020-2021 school year. Although we are living in unprecedented times, it is important to remember that we are stronger together and we WILL get through this! Your child is important to me and we will all continue to learn and grow together. I joined Westchester Hills School 29 in December of 2017. I have 13 years of experience in the field of Speech-Language Pathology, working in medical-based settings, private practice and public school districts. I've worked with a broad range of children from birth to adolescence with a variety of speech and language needs. I enjoy working with a diverse population of both general education and special education students.
I will be reaching out to you in the next couple of weeks to inform you of your child's therapy time and day. For students who will be attending school in person either 2 or 4 days a week, I will do my best to provide therapy for your child when they are in the building. Please note that if you have opted for your child to learn remotely over the next few months then I will be providing your child's services via remote sessions. The platform that we will be using is Microsoft Teams. I will reach out to you to ensure that you can access and login to Teams for your child's scheduled session with me. It is important to remember your child's therapy session time and login promptly as I will not be able to wait for or extend your child's therapy time if you are late entering his/her scheduled session. As a way to either reinforce or continue activities that your child is working on in therapy, I will periodically post assignments that your child can do at home under the "Assignments" tab. Additionally, feel free to check this webpage for thematic activities and other school-wide celebration related learning materials. I will be working from the school building Monday through Friday, please feel free to email me if you have any questions at cforcheney@yonkerspublicschools.org. I will be checking my email regularly throughout the day. I look forward to working with your child and helping them build the speech and language skills necessary to reach their fullest potential in the classroom!
Warmly,
Candice Forcheney
