Mr. Thomas Class Expectations

  • Class Expectations:

    • We are looking forward to a productive year of learning with your children.  The following is a list of the 6th-grade expectations that will help us facilitate your child’s learning.   Please review the following information with your child.  It takes a village to raise a child!

      Planners

      Student Responsibility:

Students will use their planners(please purchase before school begins) or log in online to complete all homework assignments, unfinished classwork that needs to be completed as homework, and upcoming tests/project dates.

      Parent Responsibility:

Please check your child’s planner or on-line assignments nightly so you are aware of all homework assignments, unfinished classwork that needs to be completed as homework, and upcoming tests/project dates. If your child’s planner is blank, then they aren’t doing their job as a student and utilizing their planner correctly as homework is written on the boards in classrooms daily and time is provided for students to write in their planners.

      STUDENT ABSENCES

Upon returning from an absence, each student’s responsibility is to do classwork and homework, as well as arrange any test make-up with each of their teachers.

      GRADING PRACTICES

All class work and homework should be completed when the assignment is due.  ELA homework is assigned daily, 30min of reading your personal book. Social Studies homework is given about 2-3 times per week.  Students are expected to review notes daily.  There will be weekly Quizes or tests.  Parents have to sign every test that a student brings home.  Test corrections for a higher grade will be allowed if your child scores below 65%. Students are allowed to miss two daily homework assignments without penalty during the marking period.

Any missing projects or assessments will receive a score of zero.  Assignments that are handed in late will lose points each day the assignment has not been turned in.

      * Tests may not be retaken
