Mr. Thomas Class Expectations
We are looking forward to a Productive year of learning with your children. The following is a list of the 6th grade expectations that will help us facilitate your child’s learning. Please review the following information with your child.
Students will use their planners to record all homework assignments, unfinished class work that needs to be completed as homework, and upcoming tests/project dates.
Please check your child’s planner nightly so you are aware of all homework assignments, unfinished class work that needs to be completed as homework, and upcoming tests/project dates. If your child’s planner is blank, then they aren’t doing their job as a student and utilizing their planner correctly as homework is written on the boards in classrooms daily and time is provided for students to write in their planners.
Upon returning from any absence, it is each student’s responsibility to obtain class work and homework, as well as arrange any test make ups with each of their teachers.
All class work and homework should be completed when the assignment is due. ELA homework is assigned daily, 30min of reading your personal book. Social Studies homework is given about 2-3 times per week. Students are expected to review notes daily. There will be weekly Quizes or Tests. Parents are to sign every test that a student brings home. Test corrections for a higher grade will be allowed if your child scores below a 65%. Students are allowed to miss two daily homework assignments without penalty during the markingperiod.
Any missing projects or assessments will receive a score of zero. Assignments that are handed in late will lose points each day the assignment has not been turned in.
* Tests may not be retaken
Extra credit: BrainPop- The students are allowed to watch 5 videos on topics that we have covered in class. If the student receives a 10/10 they will receive 5 points of extra credit for each one.
Students may also submit extra credit on topics we cover in class.(consult with Mr. Thomas)
