Degrees and Certifications:
M.S.-Secondary Education-Social Studies- Iona College B.A.-History- Fordham University
Mr. John McMenimon
I am in my 36th year as a Social Studies Teacher (29th year in the Yonkers Public Schools). I am a proud graduate of Fordham University (B.A. History- 1987) and Iona College (M.S. Secondary Social Studies- 1994). I have been married to my wonderful wife, Theresa, for 31 years and have 3 terrific sons (John, Joe, and Cooper). I was a longtime PEARLS Parent, as well as being a PEARLS Teacher. I am a Yonkers resident. I am a huge sports fan, particularly of the Jets and Yankees. I am an old comic book geek-Captain America is my man! (Surprise,surprise- the History guy likes Captain America!). I was a longtime lifeguard, camp counselor, CCD Teacher (religious education). I have 3 cats, but am a dog guy at heart. I am a Bookaholic! I love to read History, Science Fiction, Mysteries, Westerns, and Religion. I am actively involved with Special Olympics with my son, Joe. I recently achieved certification in the field of Historic Preservation and was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Westchester Historical Society and the Yonkers Historical Society. I also serve as a tour guide for the historic Sherwood House on Tuckahoe Road.
