My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy is to support all students in being academically successful by using best practices of teaching and incorporating in my classroom principles of Social and Emotional Learning and Advancing Positive Youth Development.
I firmly believe that each student brings different experiences and strengths to the classroom that add value and richness to the academic setting. I believe that each student has cultural resources and “currency” that enrich the classroom. Therefore, I make it my duty to take a holistic approach to educating my students and giving them a voice and choice in my classroom. I believe that giving students a voice and choice and valuing them builds character and promotes leadership qualities—i.e., transferrable skills for the world of work.
I believe that, as a teacher, I have the opportunity to influence my students as well as encourage and motivate them to attain academic success.
My mission is to support and appropriately challenge students to self-actualize and reach their fullest potential.
To help students succeed requires collaboration between parents/guardians and teachers. Therefore, I believe in establishing and maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with all parents/guardians, as I shepherd their precious child on the journey to success. Together we are strong!
