Mr. Brian Foster

Welcome!  My teaching career began in Yonkers Public Schools in 2003 and I found my home here at Gorton High School in 2005.  I have taught multiple subjects throughout my career including: AP World History/Modern, pre-AP World History, Global History & Geography 9/10, U.S. History & Government, Economics & Government, Sociology, Criminal Law, Bioethics, as well as a philosophy elective I designed called the Modern Mind.  Having the experiences of teaching such a wide variety of courses helped reinforce one of my core educational tenets which is:  there are many different ways to view the world and the human experience.  My intention as an educator is to help students navigate and frame perspectives of the present through the lens of human history.  I will help my students become better writers and readers, but my main focus is to help them learn how to think and be conscious of the processes that helps shape the world around them.

my courses 2020-2021: Global History & Geography 10, AP World History: Modern, and Economics & Government.

Virtual learning:  student will follow their schedule and follow instructions through our class page on Microsoft Teams.

Once school reopens, I will be available for after-school help on Wednesdays in room 226.
