Mr. William Shaggura
Mr. Shaggura is the Principal of Gorton High School in the City of Yonkers. Prior to obtaining a position as an administrator, he was a high school Social Studies teacher for 9 years and served as Dean of Students for 1 year. In addition, he has experience working with multiple grade levels and a diverse group of students and staff.
Mr. Shaggura received a Bachelor’s Degree at Manhattan College and a Master’s Degree at Lehman College in History/Secondary Education. He continued to grow professionally by obtaining a second Master’s Degree in School Building Leadership from Mercy College.
Mr. Shaggura is a visionary leader and educator with more than 18 years of experience. Within that time, he has served as a successful educator, curriculum leader, school administrator and a strategic planner for school improvement. He has extensive experience in professional development, instruction, school safety and management, local/sate/and national testing as well as the supervision of diverse learning groups. Mr. Shaggura supports a culture of pride, teamwork, and learning by creating academic and extracurricular activities for a diverse community. In addition, Mr. Shaggura provides leadership and direction in developing and promoting programs and services through public relations and outreach efforts. His hard work and commitment to excellence has positively impacted the quality of education students receive. Mr. Shaggura has extensive experience serving and encouraging further growth and development for our lifelong learners at Charles E. Gorton High School.
